Melissa and her refugee volunteer friends Elsa and Andrea have just been selected as finalists for Catholic Charities USA’s 2009 Volunteer of the Year Award!!
This is wonderful recognition of the incredible dedication and hard work these ladies put in for those men, woman and children in need. They tirelessly give their time and energy into making these folks lives better and I am proud of all of them (but especially proud of Melissa of course!)
Right now a distinguished panel of judges is undertaking the tough task of selecting the winner of this year’s award, which will be announced during National Volunteer Week April 19. The recipient will be honored at the Catholic Charities USA’s Annual Gathering in Portland on September 26. So if they win they get to have a trip up to lovely Portland to receive the award.
Keep your fingers crossed as we will find out in a little over 3 weeks. They are already winners in my book though because they have touched so many lives in such a positive and caring way.
