Big Dog - Little Dog

I've already blogged on my dog policy earlier this year and we continue to follow that. This week due to a slight scheduling snafu we happen to have two dogs at the Kreisa kennel. The first is a regular - Skittles our lovable and slightly wall-eyed Shih Tzu who is very spunky and pretty sweet. Now Skittle probably weighs 10-15lbs (the amount of weight I still want to lose) and stands 8 inches at the shoulder. He is very much a lap dog and can often be found there if you sit down.

Our second visitor is a part Labrador part Great Dane mix named Buddy. Unlike Skittles, Buddy stands about 3 ft at the shoulder and looks Nicolas straight in the eye. He has what I would call a typical Great Dane temperament and prefers to take it easy. (although Skittles has gotten him in a playful mood of late). Buddy could for example easily grab something off of the counter where as Skittles can only wonder at the treats that lie above his domain.

The other day we took the two for a walk which by itself was somewhat comical just because of the difference in size. It was made all the more funny when we let the kids have the leash and Nicolas was at one point walking Buddy. It looked like he should be riding him!

So far the two dogs seem to be getting along well, neither taking too much notice of the other.
